Legacy Collection

The primary objective for the Legacy Collecting Program is the creation of The Legacy Collection. This collecting program carries out the Art Center’s mission to collect the highest quality works by artists with significant links to the Upper Midwest. The Legacy Collection features work by artists selected based on their reputation, the quality of their art, their potential to achieve further recognition, and their connection to the Upper Midwest region.

Art selected from the exhibition was purchased with private funds contributed to the Art Center Association of Sioux City, the non-profit fundraising arm of the Sioux City Art Center, and accessioned into the Permanent Art Collection. The funds for purchasing artworks are provided by a combination of private sources, including: pledges by the Blockbuster II Partners, donations to the Margaret Heffernan Endowment, and grants from the Margaret Ann Martin Everist Foundation and the Unnamed Foundation.
